1942, 1946, 1950, 1954, 1958, 1966, 1974, 1978, 1986, 1990, 1994, 2006.

Losses in the House, gains in the Senate (2/17, 11,8%):

1962 (D: -4, +2), 1970 (R: -12, +1).

Losses in the House, status quo in the Senate (1/17, 5,9%):

1982 (R: -26, 0)

Gains in the House, status quo in the Senate (1/17, 5,9%):

1998 (D: +5, 0)

Gains in both chambers (1/17, 5,9%):

2002 (R: +8, +2)

2010? Losses for the Democrats in both chambers of Congress. Nate Silver is on the case.
